Ukraine’s Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko said that Finland’s additional €40 million contribution to the Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List (PURL) initiative will be used to strengthen Ukraine’s air defense capabilities, UATV English reports.
“These funds will reinforce our air defense and, accordingly, help protect people from Russia’s criminal attacks, including ballistic missile strikes,” Svyrydenko said.
The prime minister thanked the Finnish government and Prime Minister Petteri Orpo for approving the additional funding under the PURL mechanism.
“Finland has stood alongside Ukraine since the first day of Russia’s full-scale invasion,” she said, expressing gratitude for Finland’s “consistency and genuine partnership.”
Earlier on Thursday, Orpo announced that Finland would allocate an additional €40 million to the PURL initiative.
The Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List (PURL) is a NATO-backed mechanism that enables member states to finance deliveries of U.S.-made weapons and technologies to Ukraine through voluntary contributions, focusing on Kyiv’s most urgent defense needs.
