Austrian Chancellor Christian Stocker said around 1,000 Austrian companies continue to operate in Ukraine despite the war and will play an important role in the country’s reconstruction.
Speaking at the Ukraine Recovery Conference (URC 2026) in Gdańsk, Stocker stressed that rebuilding Ukraine is an investment in Europe’s future, UATV English reports.
“My message today is simple: Ukraine’s reconstruction will not be a return to the past. It will be an investment in the future,” he said.
The chancellor noted that Austria is ready to contribute its expertise, innovation, and experience to Ukraine’s recovery. He recalled that Austria was one of Ukraine’s key economic partners before Russia’s full-scale invasion, and that Austrian businesses have remained committed despite the difficult circumstances.
“Today, around 1,000 Austrian companies operate in Ukraine, providing approximately 30,000 jobs. This commitment demonstrates that our solidarity is built on long-term engagement,” Stocker said.
He highlighted Austrian companies’ expertise in sectors that will be central to Ukraine’s reconstruction, including sustainable and decentralized energy systems, infrastructure, financial services, and advanced technologies.
