Finland must always be ready to shoot down drones that enter its airspace by mistake, Defense Minister Antti Häkkänen said.
According to Häkkänen, Russian strategic facilities are located near the Finnish border, and as long as Ukraine continues to strike them, there remains a possibility that some drones could stray into Finnish airspace.
“We are primarily preparing for a scenario in which one of the drones from a swarm launched by Ukraine goes off course. If such a drone enters our airspace, it could be safely neutralized using military force,” Häkkänen said, as quoted by ERR.
He also stressed that Finland must be prepared to ensure that no civilian aircraft are operating in the affected airspace in such situations.
