France has described as unfounded Russia’s accusations that Ukraine is allegedly seeking to obtain nuclear weapons or a so-called “dirty bomb” with the assistance of London or Paris.

According to Reuters, the statement was made by the French Ministry of Defense, UATV English reports.

“This unfounded claim by the Foreign Intelligence Service has been amplified by various Russian propaganda outlets on X and by some foreign news agencies,” said Olivia Penichou, Director of Communications at the Ministry of Defense, adding that it is yet another example of Russian disinformation.

Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelensky described recent nuclear threats from Russia as political pressure ahead of a trilateral meeting between the delegations of Ukraine, the United States, and Russia.

The United Kingdom also rejected Russia’s accusations that Britain and France intend to provide Ukraine with nuclear weapons. The statement came after Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service alleged, without presenting any evidence, that the UK and France were planning to supply Ukraine with nuclear bombs or a “dirty bomb.”

Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev later claimed that if this were the case, Russia could use nuclear weapons against the United Kingdom, Ukraine, and France “if necessary.”
