According to the latest surveys, more than half of European Union citizens are worried about conflicts and wars taking place near the EU, UATV English reports.

This is stated on the website of the European Parliament.

The Eurobarometer survey conducted in autumn 2025 showed that 72% of Europeans are concerned about active conflicts and wars near the EU’s borders.

Another 67% of respondents are worried about terrorism, while 66% said they are concerned about natural disasters and cyberattacks originating from non-EU countries.

An overwhelming majority — 89% — support unity among EU member states to confront today’s global challenges, and 86% want the EU to have a stronger voice on the international stage.

In addition, 66% of respondents would like the EU to play a greater role in protecting them from global crises and security risks.

Survey participants identified defense and security (40%), competitiveness, the economy and industry (32%), and energy independence, resources, and infrastructure (29%) as the key areas for strengthening the EU’s position in the world.

According to the results, a majority of citizens view their country’s EU membership positively (62%), which is two percentage points higher than in February–March 2024.

As a reminder, on January 23 the Paris-based platform Le Grand Continent published a poll showing that 51% of Europeans consider Donald Trump an “enemy of Europe.” The survey was conducted after the U.S. president increased pressure on Europe and Denmark over the idea of purchasing Greenland.

It has also been reported that more than two-thirds of EU citizens believe Trump does not deserve the Nobel Peace Prize.
