President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine has strengthened the Patriot component of its air-defense system.
This became known from his social media.
On Sunday, November 2, Zelenskyy thanked Germany and the country’s chancellor, Friedrich Merz, for fulfilling the agreements on strengthening air defense.
“We had been preparing this reinforcement of air defense for some time, and the agreements reached have now been implemented,” Zelenskyy emphasized.
The Ukrainian president also noted that Ukraine, together with its partners, continues to work on building a reliable air-defense system.
According to him, negotiations on further joint steps to strengthen air defense are ongoing both at the government level and directly with manufacturers of the necessary systems.
“And our capabilities will be able to guarantee security not only for Ukraine, but also for our partners when needed. Since our security is indivisible, our air defense must protect all of us,” Zelenskyy added.
In July, it became known that the United States and Germany had reached an agreement to provide Ukraine with five Patriot air-defense systems, which are to be delivered to the battlefield as soon as possible.
Later, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius announced the transfer of two Patriot surface-to-air missile systems to Ukraine by the end of 2025.
On October 20, Zelenskyy announced that Ukraine is preparing a contract with an American manufacturer to purchase 25 Patriot systems.
