Captured Enemy Maps Show Russian Forces Misleading Their Own Command – President Zelenskyy

Captured maps from the counteroffensive in Donetsk indicate that Russian troops are presenting wishful thinking as reality to their higher command, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in a briefing with journalists, according to Ukrinform.

“Yesterday, during a report on our operation [referring to the counteroffensive in Dobropillia], I saw the positioning of our forces and assets in electronic form, and I saw Russian maps. Their reports differ significantly from reality. In areas where we restored positions, the Russians’ maps show the opposite,” Zelenskyy explained.

He added that this shows discrepancies between mid-level reports and the actual situation on the ground.

“I think this is actually good. In the information space, there has constantly been this provocation about where they are in Donbas, claiming they would capture Pokrovsk within 30 days and the entire east by November. But this is far from reality,” Zelenskyy emphasized.

Earlier, Zelenskyy reported that Ukrainian forces disrupted the Russian offensive around Pokrovsk and Dobropillia, inflicting over 2,500 casualties, including more than 1,300 killed, in just a few weeks since the counteroffensive began.
