Finnish President Alexander Stubb, speaking at the Helsinki Security Forum, expressed doubt that Russia would launch the same kind of drone raid on his country as it did on Poland.
This was reported by the Finnish broadcaster Yle.
Stubb stressed that the entry of Russian drones into Polish territory was a test of what can be done to the West in the so-called “grey zone.”
“We are being tested through directed migration, damage to undersea cables, and now through drones in Poland. We are being tested to see under what conditions Article 4 of the NATO Charter is triggered and how the Alliance responds,” Stubb reflected.
According to him, this may also have been a signal to Ukraine’s Western allies that they need to take care of their own air defenses.
Stubb believes that similar drone attacks are unlikely to be expected in Finland.
The Finnish president assured that Finland is sufficiently prepared for possible drone strikes.
It should be noted that on September 19, Estonia, a NATO member, reported an incursion of Russian MiG-31 fighter jets into its airspace for 12 minutes.
As a reminder, on September 11 Stubb paid a visit to Ukraine.
