Twenty-five foreign companies, including major global defense manufacturers, are now at various stages of localizing production in Ukraine, Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal announced on Facebook, Ukrinform reports.
Shmyhal said each manufacturer is working in close dialogue with the Ukrainian government, which offers partners several models of cooperation — including the “Danish model” known as Build with Ukraine / Build in Ukraine.
“The priority is that the main share of each company’s products goes to meet the needs of the Ukrainian military,” Shmyhal emphasized.
To reduce investment risks and make joint ventures more attractive, Ukraine has created a special industrial regime called Defence City.
“It provides tax incentives, simplified customs procedures, mechanisms for relocating production to safer regions, expanded state financial support, and opportunities for export and integration into global supply chains,” the minister noted, inviting more international firms to invest and set up facilities in Ukraine.
Shmyhal stressed that cutting-edge weapons capable of influencing the battlefield are already being developed in Ukraine.
“Investment in Ukraine’s defense industry is the best investment in the defense of all Europe,” he underlined.
Next week, The Hague will host the first European Defence Innovation Forum (EDIF), bringing together government officials, investors, defense companies, research institutions and startups from Ukraine and across Europe.
