President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine has been resisting Russia’s full-scale invasion longer than anyone in the world anticipated, emphasizing the strength and patriotism of the Ukrainian people and military.
In a post on Facebook, Zelenskyy wrote:
“Today is the 1,276th day of the full-scale war. Ukraine has been standing in the war against Russia for its independence longer than anyone in the world expected. And this is the result of the patriotism and effectiveness of our people. The result of our warriors, who heroically fight for our state and destroy the occupier. I am grateful to everyone in all our Defense and Security Forces for the strength you give Ukraine, for every achievement.”
Zelenskyy stressed that a strong and developed Ukrainian army remains the most reliable security for the Ukrainian people.
However, he also underlined the need for strong security guarantees from all partners who seek peace.
“Every day, together with the United States, Europe, and all our partners, we work to ensure security. Ukraine must achieve its goals. And these goals are just: to protect life, to defend independence, and to secure a dignified peace for Ukraine,” Zelenskyy said.
Earlier, Zelenskyy noted that the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi are working on the military component of Ukraine’s security guarantees.
