The head of European diplomacy, Kaja Kallas, has rejected accusations of being undiplomatic and overly harsh toward Russia.

She made these remarks in an interview with Spiegel.

“If I say something about Russia, people immediately label me as a hawk on Russia,” Kallas noted.

According to her, when other politicians criticize Vladimir Putin, it is generally accepted. However, when she does so, people quickly accuse her of going too far with her choice of words.

“Regarding Russia, I am simply representing the mainstream position shared by the vast majority of European governments,” she stressed.

Media reports have previously indicated that Kaja Kallas faced criticism in the early months of her tenure, with accusations of making overly aggressive statements about Russia and engaging in confrontation with Donald Trump’s administration.
