U.S. President Donald Trump believes there is a “very good” chance of reaching some kind of “peace agreement” between Russia and Ukraine.
He made the statement to journalists during an Easter event at the White House on April 21.
When asked about possible details of the “peace deal” the U.S. is proposing between Ukraine and Russia, Trump promised to “announce full details within the next three days.”
“But we had very good meetings about Ukraine and Russia,” he added.
Later, when asked whether such a “peace agreement” could be reached this week, the American president answered affirmatively.
“There is a very good chance,” Trump said.
Earlier, Bloomberg reported that U.S. proposals for a “peace agreement” between Russia and Ukraine include easing sanctions against Russia in exchange for a prolonged ceasefire, potential U.S. recognition of the 2014 annexation of Crimea, and Ukraine’s non-accession to NATO.
The U.S. is now reportedly awaiting Kyiv’s response, which is expected to be delivered at a meeting between American, Ukrainian, and European officials in London later this week.
