President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Russia’s losses from the newly imposed international sanctions will amount to no less than $50 billion annually, citing intelligence assessments from Ukraine’s Foreign Intelligence Service Chief Oleg Ivashchenko.

That’s according to a statement posted by the President on Telegram, reports Ukrinform.

“We have received the first detailed assessments from intelligence regarding the impact of new sanctions imposed by our partners on Russia’s war machine. There’s a lot of information, and we’ll use it to adjust our communication with partners as we prepare new sanctions. We are recording significant losses for Russia from the restrictions already applied to its oil companies and estimate that — with consistent and principled pressure on Moscow — their losses from these latest measures alone will reach at least $50 billion per year,”
— Zelenskyy said.

The President added that Ukraine expects even more sanctions actions from partners, noting encouraging signals from several governments.

“Oil supplies from Arab states to the global market are more than enough to prevent any destabilization or price spikes that the Russians are trying to frighten everyone with,”
— Zelenskyy noted.

He also emphasized that Ukraine maintains regular data exchanges with key partner states regarding Russian individuals and sanction-worthy schemes, and that many of Ukraine’s proposals are being taken into account. Zelenskyy stressed that measures against Russia’s tanker fleet must also be fully implemented.

Earlier, Zelenskyy said that sanctions introduced by U.S. President Donald Trump would cut Russia’s revenues by $5 billion each month.

Recently, the U.S. Treasury Department announced new sanctions against major Russian oil companies Rosneft and Lukoil, calling on Moscow to immediately agree to a ceasefire in Ukraine.

On October 23, EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas announced that the European Union approved its 19th package of sanctions against Russia over its ongoing full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
