It is easier to supply Abrams tanks (“Abrams”) to Ukraine than to create a base for their maintenance and repair. This will take a significant amount of time – from three months to six months. However, this will not affect the situation at the front in a critical way, since the partners provide Ukraine with other heavy armored vehicles, which are no less strategically important. This opinion was voiced on the FREEDOM TV channel by military expert Sergei Grabsky.
“Based on the specifics of this particular weapon, military equipment, you need to understand that it’s not difficult to deliver Abrams as a parcel just to the battlefield. A month or two – and they are here. Training the crew to drive this vehicle is also not a difficult task, because we have excellent tankers who have been fighting for eight years. It’s like changing from an old Zhiguli to a Mercedes. But everything else will take time, ”the expert explained.
According to Grabsky, it is necessary to deploy a colossal and multifaceted system of operation, maintenance, and repair of this equipment.
“It is necessary to provide weapons and provide systems of intellectual significance, namely, control systems. And it takes a long time. It could be six months, maybe even more. But this does not mean that we should throw up our hands and say it’s all over. In no case. Such work is underway,” Grabsky said.
He stressed that the tank crews are almost ready. In addition, the tanks may not be very far away, the expert says.
“We understand that there is a grouping of American forces in Europe, and in general, these tanks can be transferred from there. That is, these are already technical details. But if we talk specifically about time indicators, then I would say that from the arrival of tanks to their entry into battle, according to the most optimistic estimates, it can take up to three months, ”said Grabsky.
Earlier, military expert Yuriy Fedorov said that the delivery of Abrams tanks to Ukraine could be not a few months, but much earlier.
