“We had a very good and productive meeting,” Zelenskyy said during a briefing following his talks with Donald Trump.

Zelenskyy was asked about the potential supply of Tomahawk missiles.

“We talked about air defense — it’s important for us. We decided with President Trump that, for now, we won’t publicly discuss long-range missiles — the U.S. does not want escalation.” The President of Ukraine said.

We have decided to work more closely on weapons production,” — Zelenskyy.

The U.S. and Ukraine, together with partners, agreed on further cooperation in the defense industry.

“All the signals from Russia are not new to us, but we are counting on Trump, on his pressure on Putin, to stop this war.” Zelenskyy added.

Trump informed Zelenskyy about his dialogue with Putin regarding the Budapest summit:

“We talked about Budapest; President Trump shared his discussions with the Russian side,” Zelenskyy said.

“The issue of territories is very sensitive — the most difficult one. Russia wanted to occupy all of Ukraine. But my position is: let’s first agree on a ceasefire so we can sit down at the negotiating table,” — Zelenskyy.

“Trump is right: we need to stop where we are,” Zelenskyy commented on Trump’s post.

“Both sides need to stop. But the issue is with Putin, because we did not start this war.”

“Ukraine has become strong, but our air-defense systems do not always cope with ballistic missiles,” Zelenskyy stated.

“Our energy sector cannot withstand this — we must put pressure on Putin. So that operations against military targets can be carried out. War is a time that does not work in people’s favor,” — the President emphasized.

“After a ceasefire, we need reliable security guarantees so that Putin does not go on the offensive again,” stated Zelenskyy.

However, the President of Ukraine said that the issue of Ukrainian strikes on Russian territory, just as new sanctions, were not discussed.

“We talked about Tomahawks. President Trump noted that they also need this weapon. But no one closed this topic for further negotiations — we still need to work on it.” Zelenskyy said.

The U.S. will receive certain types of Ukrainian drones, Zelenskyy added.

The President of Ukraine noted that “we are open to discussion, and the teams will work on this issue.”

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that after concluding his meeting with the U.S. leader and his team on October 17, he held a discussion with strategic partners from the EU and NATO, including leaders of the “coalition of the willing.”

“I held a joint conversation with a group of European leaders, with the main representatives of the ‘coalition of the willing.’ Ursula von der Leyen and António Costa were present. Alexander Stubb, the President of Finland, also participated, as well as the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Keir Starmer, the Prime Minister of Italy, the Prime Minister of Poland, and the NATO Secretary General,” Zelenskyy noted.

One of the topics discussed was security guarantees, which they also spoke about with President Trump.

“We talked about air defense. Because when drones are used to carry out strikes, it is of course useful to discuss this topic. We also discussed the PURL initiative. The United States, President Trump, opened this corridor for us — for Europe, for NATO. Deliveries are ongoing, Europe pays for it and provides us with weapons systems,” the president said.
