Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said a Russia that reverts to a Soviet-style bloc allied with China would pose a far greater danger to the United States than Moscow currently does on its own, framing continued support for Ukraine as a matter of long-term American interest.
He said this in an interview with American far-right blogger and close supporter of the US president, Laura Loomer, UATV English reports.
“If Russia once again becomes the Soviet Union, you will get a union of China and the USSR that will be stronger than the U.S. And that will be dangerous for you,” Zelenskyy said.
The Ukrainian leader tied the warning to a broader push for deeper defense-industrial cooperation with Washington, announcing that Ukraine and the United States will build a major plant to produce unmanned aerial vehicles. He said Kyiv is sharing battlefield-tested drone technology and operational experience with American partners as part of what he called a mutually beneficial partnership.
The announcement builds on Ukraine’s rapidly expanding drone program, which Zelenskyy has cited in recent weeks as one of the country’s fastest-growing military-industrial sectors. He has previously said Ukraine already fields drones with a range of up to 3,000 kilometers and is developing models capable of reaching 4,000 kilometers, with longer-range systems in the pipeline.
The push for a joint U.S.-Ukraine production facility follows a series of statements by Zelenskyy framing Ukraine’s drone expertise as a strategic asset it can offer allies, rather than aid it merely receives — an argument he has increasingly used in outreach to U.S. officials and audiences as Kyiv seeks to secure continued American backing.
