The “1,000 for 1,000” prisoner exchange is being prepared and should be carried out, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in his evening video address, UATV English reports.
According to Zelenskyy, “our contacts with the American side are ongoing regarding guarantees — guarantees of implementing the agreements that were recently reached and announced by the President of the United States.”
“The prisoner exchange — one thousand for one thousand — is being prepared and must take place. These guarantees were undertaken by the Americans. The Ukrainian Coordination Headquarters has handed over lists of one thousand to the Russian side. There was American mediation in this agreement on the exchange, so we expect the American side to be active in ensuring the implementation of these agreements,” Zelenskyy emphasized.
As reported earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that the leaders of Russia and Ukraine agreed to a three-day ceasefire and a prisoner exchange at his request.
