At least 238 civilians were killed and 1,404 injured in Ukraine during April 2026 as a result of Russian attacks, marking the highest monthly civilian casualty toll since July 2025, according to the United Nations.
The figures were presented at a UN Security Council meeting by Kayoko Goto, citing data from the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, UATV English reports
According to Goto, the numbers reflect a continuing trend of rising harm to civilians amid Russia’s ongoing war against Ukraine.
She also noted that one of the largest aerial bombardments since the start of the full-scale invasion took place over the past week.
UN data shows that since February 2022, at least 15,850 civilians have been confirmed killed in Ukraine, including 791 children. Another 44,809 people, among them 2,752 children, have been injured.
Earlier this month, emergency crews in Kyiv completed recovery operations following a Russian missile strike on a residential building in the city’s Darnytskyi district.
The attack killed 24 people, including three children.
