The Ministry of Foreign Affairs considered the report of the UN Secretary General “Situation with human rights in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, Ukraine”. The report defines Russia as an occupying state, and its “authorities” in the occupied Crimea as an “occupying power”.

This is reported by UA with reference to the Foreign Ministry.

According to the message, the report was prepared in pursuance of the UN General Assembly resolution 75/192 of the same name, approved at the initiative of Ukraine.

The report clearly defines the Russian Federation as an aggressor state, and its “governing bodies” on the territory of the temporarily occupied Crimea – as an occupying power.

The UN Secretary General confirms numerous facts of torture, in particular with the use of sexual violence, illegal arrests, arbitrary detentions, enforced disappearances, violations of freedom of religion, peaceful gatherings by the Federal Security Service and other bodies of the Russian occupation administration.

The Russian Federation continues to grossly violate international law and illegally condemn citizens of Ukraine, transfers illegally detained citizens of Ukraine from the temporarily occupied territories to the territory of Russia.

The UN Secretary General once again asks Russia to stop gross violations of human rights and follow all of its obligations under international humanitarian and human rights law.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine considers the report of the UN Secretary General as a continuation of the efforts of the international community to de-occupy Crimea, which were reflected in the Declaration of the participants of the Crimean Platform.

To remind, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba said that the summit of the Crimean platform is only the beginning of a great deal on the return of Crimea.
