During the night of July 7, operators of Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces struck eight tankers belonging to Russia’s shadow fleet in the Sea of Azov. The announcement was made by the Commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces, Robert Brovdi, callsign “Madyar”, UATV English reports.

“Eight tankers of Russia’s shadow fleet were hunted down and set ablaze in a single night by the pilots of Kairos, the 414th Separate Brigade ‘Madyar’s Birds.’ The battle for fuel supplies to Crimea in the Sea of Azov continues,” he said.

In addition to the fuel tankers, the commander said a cargo vessel and a ferry were also hit. He added that the “fuel tubs” were heavily damaged and are on fire.

According to Madyar, all of the damaged tankers have already been identified. He said they are all under international sanctions, have a deadweight of around 7,000 tons, are approximately 140 meters long, and were built between 2006 and 2012.

Among the vessels he named were Venera-3, Sanar-1, Sanar-17, Klimena, Teti, Aleksey Savrasov, and Penelopa. The name of one additional tanker is still being established, he added.

As previously reported, during the night of June 23, units of Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces struck more than 60 targets in Crimea and other temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.
