Ukraine and Sweden have signed an agreement for the procurement of 16 Gripen E fighter jets, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced following a meeting with Swedish Defense Minister Pål Jonson, UATV English reports.

According to Zelenskyy, the agreement includes not only the aircraft but also a comprehensive package of equipment, technical assistance, and long-term support.

The president also said that, under previous agreements with Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson, the first 16 Gripen C/D fighter jets will be delivered to the Ukrainian Air Force in early 2027.

Zelenskyy thanked Jonson for Sweden’s continued military support and said the two sides held detailed discussions on implementing the aircraft agreements.

They also reviewed broader bilateral defense cooperation, including preparations for a Drone Deal and joint work on anti-ballistic capabilities.

“I thank Sweden—its government and people—for their meaningful partnership and unwavering support since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion. Together, we are strengthening the security of Ukraine and all of Europe,” Zelenskyy said.
