Bloomberg TV, as cited by UATV English, reports that Ukraine is continuing negotiations with Washington over the purchase of Tomahawk cruise missiles and other long-range weapons, and that the talks are progressing positively, Ukraine’s ambassador to the United States Olga Stefanishyna said.
Stefanishyna told Balance of Power on Bloomberg that discussions are ongoing and involve multiple delegations working to expand available funding for acquiring a broader range of U.S. military capabilities.
“Discussions are still ongoing, but we have many delegations working on increasing available financial resources to purchase more military capabilities in the United States.”
She stressed that Kyiv’s requests are not limited to Tomahawks but include various types of short- and long-range missiles, and described the tone of negotiations as “quite positive.”
Commenting on recent large-scale Russian strikes against Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, Stefanishyna called the period very hard for the country and said Kyiv is working intensively to secure more air-defense systems.
“We are working hard to provide Ukraine with more means of air defense.”
The report notes that while the Pentagon gave a preliminary “green light” for transferring Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine, the final decision rests with President Donald Trump, who has at times indicated reluctance to approve such transfers himself. Stefanishyna warned that any failure to maintain pressure on Russia would effectively give Moscow a green light to expand its capabilities.
