Ukraine and Norway are expanding discussions on long-term cooperation in the energy sector, including gas production, advanced technologies and sustainable development initiatives.

According to Naftogaz CEO Serhii Koretskyi, representatives of Ukraine met with a Norwegian parliamentary delegation led by Mani Hussaini, Chair of Norway’s Standing Committee on Energy and the Environment, to discuss current and future areas of partnership, UATV English reports.

“Norway remains one of Naftogaz Group’s key partners,” Koretskyi said, noting that Norwegian support has included grant financing for natural gas purchases and assistance in restoring energy infrastructure damaged by Russian attacks.

During the meeting, Ukrainian representatives briefed their Norwegian counterparts on the consequences of Russia’s ongoing strikes against Naftogaz facilities, emphasizing that the intensity of attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure continues to increase.

The sides also reviewed opportunities to deepen cooperation between Ukrainian and Norwegian companies and institutions.

Discussions covered ongoing projects in power generation and infrastructure modernization, as well as перспективes for joint work in natural gas production, innovative energy technologies and the implementation of ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) practices.

“For us, it is important that Norway’s support goes far beyond financial assistance. This partnership is built on trust, a shared vision of energy security and a willingness to work on long-term solutions,” Koretskyi said.

He thanked the Norwegian parliament, government and people for their continued support of Ukraine.

Norway has become one of Ukraine’s most active energy-sector partners since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion, providing financial assistance, equipment and support for restoring critical infrastructure.

The meeting follows recent discussions between President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre on strengthening Ukraine’s air defense capabilities and developing anti-ballistic missile defense initiatives.
