Volunteers picked up a sick and beaten cat on the street. For 6 months he was taken care of, and was in search of a new home. Now Simon not only found a home, but also work. He now takes care of the courtyard and utility rooms in a historical museum, preventing mice from running rampant.
“If suddenly any mouse tries to go through – we are hoping that he scares them away with his scent. Although, his main duty is to entertain employees. When everyone comes in the morning, they immediately let him out, they walk with him, they feed him and pet him,” employee of the Yavornytskyi Dnipro Historical Museum Maiia Ernst said.
Museum employees respectfully call him Semion Parfentievich. He even attracts visitors.
“Can he have a fish? — No, he is not allowed to eat salted fish. Only fresh fish. — Can he eat boiled fish? — Yes, he can,” Maiia and visitors discussing Simon’s preferences.
Another homeless cat was picked up by employees of a hospital. Masha was even issued a passport and was given necessary vaccinations. Now she is everyone’s favorite.
“She chose us. She came to us. And we still believe that if Masha stays around a pregnant woman, and doesn’t leave her, we believe that the woman will soon give a birth,” doctor of the Dnipro City Clinic Yuliia Dub said.
This is Biden. He is one and a half years old and he lives in the City Council. The deputy city mayor saw the red street kitten on social networks. He took him in, and now he lives at his reception.
He used to walk on tables, sit on documents and scatter toys on the reception room floor — Biden is allowed to do everything.
“He is very welcoming and very friendly. He doesn’t interfere at all. He even relaxes us, distracts us from other chaotic working moments,” an employee of the Dnipro City Council Khrystyna Yuriichuk said.
The rights for cats to free movement and residence in basements and attics have recently been approved by deputies. Animals were recognized as part of the urban ecosystem.
“Cats are city orderlies. They rid us of rodents, which carry many diseases. We sterilize cats at the ZooControl municipal enterprise and vaccinate them against rabies. Then they are returned to their habitat,” Head of Animal Registration and Adaptation Department of the Municipal Enterprise “ZooControl” Iryna Ponomarenko said.
Semion, Marusia, and Biden were lucky. They were taken from their habitats to more comfortable living conditions.
