During the Second International Forum of Photography Kyiv Photo Week 2018, which runs from Oct. 24 to Oct. 28, visitors have an opportunity to get acquainted with the drawings of Ukrainian political prisoner Roman Sushchenko.

In the special project “Art from behind the bars,” photos of pictures painted by the illegally imprisoned Ukrainian journalist are presented, Ukrinform reported

“It was very nice to see photos of my father’s paintings at the KyivPhotoWeek2018 exhibition. It turned out to be very thematic, many people stood there in front of the showpieces, photographed them, and discussed. This project is another reminder of the rising problem of Ukrainian political prisoners. It is very important to raise this issue every time we can, ” Julia Sushchenko said.

Visitors could get acquainted with photos of 20 of Sushchenko’s pictures. All of the paintings were made by the Ukrainian journalist over the past two years, which he spent in the Moscow prison “Lefortovo.” As tools for drawing, Sushchenko used a ball-point pen, tea, pencil, onion husk, beet juice, and ketchup, as prisoners are forbidden drawing accessories.
