The Kremlin is using information about the supply of depleted uranium shells to Ukraine to once again speak at a very high level about nuclear war, as such threats remain Putin’s last resort. The statements of Russian propaganda about the catastrophic harm of these shells for the ecology and health of Ukrainians are absurd, especially against the backdrop of the killings of Ukrainian citizens by Russian missiles and the real damage to the environment from the war. Russian military expert Yan Matveev stated this live on the FREEDOM TV channel.
“They all the time need to present Ukraine as evil. This is their rhetoric, they have been leading it from the very beginning. And all the time they come up with excuses: either out of the blue, like fighting mosquitoes, or they pull by the ears, as in this case, taking advantage of people’s ignorance … Everyone understands that Putin has only one weighty argument left in politics and in military operations. This is a nuclear weapon. Because the army is fighting badly, unsuccessfully, and there are no prerequisites for the fact that the Russian army can somehow turn the situation around, start fighting better, ”comments the guest on the air.
As for the harm to the environment, then, according to Matveev, one could talk about it if it was about millions of depleted uranium shells in a limited area. But the supply of such a large quantity is not possible. The expert stressed that the propaganda insinuations around these shells are especially absurd against the backdrop of Russian strikes on peaceful Ukrainian cities.
“When a Russian rocket destroys a house in Zaporizhia, and at the same time Lavrov comes out and says [something like]: “You know, they will now supply shells with uranium, there will be radioactivity, and Ukrainian citizens will suffer from this,” then these are just criminals trying to make excuses, somehow shift attention, ”Matveev believes.
The expert also noted that every day of the war unleashed by Russia causes enormous damage to the ecology of Ukraine.
“If shells with depleted uranium help Ukrainian troops, Ukrainian tanks to end the war faster, then this will be a huge benefit for the ecology of Ukraine and the entire planet. Because the war with the most common shells causes incredible harm to the same ecology and kills people, kills Ukrainians right now, ”Yan Matveev emphasized.
