Canada will continue to support Ukraine’s efforts to restore energy infrastructure damaged by Russian strikes.
This was highlighted during a meeting between Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand and the leadership of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress, UATV English reports.
“I met with the Ukrainian Canadian Congress to confirm Canada’s support for Ukraine in the face of Russian attacks on energy infrastructure. This year, Canada has already announced an additional $20 million for Ukraine’s energy needs,” Anand wrote on social media.
Commenting on Russia’s strike on UNESCO World Heritage sites in Lviv, the Canadian Foreign Minister stated that it represented “an attempt by Russia to destroy Ukraine’s culture and identity.” She emphasized: “These are clear violations of international law, and those responsible must be held accountable.”
On March 24, Russia carried out a massive drone strike on central Lviv, damaging a building recognized as UNESCO heritage.
Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has coordinated with UNESCO experts to visit Lviv to document the destruction and assess the damage caused by the Russian attack.
As of March 25, seven people remain hospitalized in Lviv as a result of the March 24 Russian strike.
