Ukraine’s anti-corruption infrastructure will continue to function, but it must be completely cleansed of Russian influence, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in a statement on his Telegram channel, as reported by Ukrinform.

“I spoke with NABU Director Semen Kryvonos, SAPO Prosecutor Oleksandr Klymenko, Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko, and Head of the Security Service of Ukraine Vasyl Maliuk — we discussed various challenges. The anti-corruption infrastructure will work. But only without Russian influence — everything must be cleansed of it. And there must be more justice,” Zelenskyy stated.

He emphasized that NABU and SAPO will continue their work, and that it is critical that the Prosecutor General is determined to ensure the inevitability of punishment for those who break the law.

“That’s exactly what Ukraine needs. Cases that have been shelved for years must be investigated,” he said.

Zelenskyy also criticized the fact that former officials who fled Ukraine are still living comfortably abroad without legal consequences:

“It’s not normal. There’s no rational explanation why criminal proceedings involving billions are still hanging unresolved for years. And there’s no explanation why Russians are still able to obtain sensitive information.”

He stressed:

“It’s vital that Russians are excluded. It’s vital that there is the inevitability of punishment — and that society can clearly see it.”

Earlier, President Zelensky recently signed a law that effectively eliminates the independence of NABU and SAPO, a move that has sparked concern among some anti-corruption watchdogs and international observers.
