Additional Bradley infantry fighting vehicles, air defense systems, ammunition for NASAMS and HIMARS – what else was included in the 30th US aid package to Ukraine?

The US Department of Defense has unveiled the contents of a new package of additional security assistance to Ukraine. This package is the 30th since August 2021, when the administration of US President Joe Biden withdraws equipment from the Pentagon’s stocks for Ukraine, FREEDOM reports, citing a message from the US Department of Defense.

The new package includes hundreds of armored vehicles, vital support for Ukraine’s air defenses, and other important capabilities, as follows:

  • additional munitions for National Advanced Air Defense Systems (NASAMS);
  • 8 SAM Avenger;
  • 59 Bradley infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs) with 590 TOW anti-tank missiles and 295,000 25mm rounds;
  • 90 Stryker armored personnel carriers (APCs) with 20 mine rollers;
  • 53 mine-resistant ambush-protected (MRAP) vehicles;
  • 350 highly mobile multipurpose wheeled vehicles (HMMWV);
  • 20 thousand 155-mm artillery shells;
  • about 600 high-precision 155-mm artillery rounds;
  • 95 thousand 105-mm artillery shells;
  • about 11 thousand 800 rounds for 120-mm mortars;
  • Additional Munitions for Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS);
  • 12 ammunition support vehicles;
  • 6 command and staff vehicles;
  • 22 tactical vehicles for towing weapons;
  • high-velocity anti-radar missiles (HARM);
  • about 2,000 anti-tank missiles;
  • more than 3 million cartridges for small arms;
  • dismantling equipment for clearing barriers;
  • Claymore anti-personnel ammunition;
  • night-vision devices;
  • spare parts and other field equipment.

The Pentagon stressed that the Kremlin’s recent air attacks on Ukraine’s critical infrastructure once again demonstrate the devastating effects of Russia’s brutal war in Ukraine. The new assistance package is designed to help, in particular, counter a range of short and medium-range threats and strengthen Ukraine’s layered air defense.

“The 59 Bradley infantry fighting vehicles included in this package, along with 50 Bradleys previously transferred on January 6, and 90 Stryker armored personnel carriers will give Ukraine two brigades of armored vehicles,” the US Department of Defense commented on the supply of armored vehicles.

Since the Biden administration came to power, the United States has provided more than $27.4 billion in security assistance to Ukraine, more than $26.7 billion of that since the unprovoked and brutal Russian invasion on February 24, 2022.
