Major General Mykhailo Drapatyi announced that President Zelenskyy tasked him with continuing and intensifying offensive operations and building up the capabilities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Drapatyi announced this on Facebook, UATV English reports.
The general said he has begun serving as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and confirmed that the Chief of the General Staff on his team will be Major General Ihor Skybiuk, former commander of the Air Assault Forces.
“Ihor Skybiuk and I met in 2022 in southern Ukraine, when we ran the operation to liberate Kherson region from a single command post. Since then, I’ve known him as a commander you can trust in difficult circumstances and rely on for his decisions, experience, and inner principles.
During his time in command of the Air Assault Forces, strong commanders emerged, including Oleh Apostol, Dmytro Voloshyn, Yevhen Lasiichuk, Sviatoslav Zaiets, Emil Ishkulov, Andrii Tkachuk, and many others.
Difficult work lies ahead, so we’re working without loud promises, with responsibility for our decisions and respect for the people holding the front and helping Ukraine endure.
The President of Ukraine has set clear tasks before us: continue and intensify offensive actions across all domains, plan new operations in the enemy’s rear, develop the military and its technologies, and build up the capabilities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” Drapatyi stated.
