Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha discussed energy assistance, defense cooperation and Ukraine’s reconstruction with Czech Foreign Minister Petr Macinka during a phone call, reaffirming the strategic partnership between the two countries, UATV English reports.
In a post on X, Sybiha thanked the Czech Republic for its comprehensive support for Ukraine, including its contribution to the Priority Ukraine Requirements List (PURL) initiative, which coordinates the delivery of critical military assistance.
The Ukrainian foreign minister also briefed his Czech counterpart on Russia’s intensified ballistic missile attacks against civilians and its deliberate targeting of critical civilian infrastructure.
“As we prepare for the next winter season, we are already working to strengthen Ukraine’s resilience. In this context, we discussed further support for Ukraine’s energy sector and greater involvement of Czech businesses in our recovery and reconstruction efforts,” Sybiha said.
The ministers also discussed expanding bilateral defense cooperation. Sybiha said both countries remain committed to deepening their mutually beneficial strategic partnership in the interests of their peoples and Europe’s security.
The talks come as Ukraine works with international partners to reinforce its energy infrastructure ahead of winter while strengthening defense industrial cooperation and attracting foreign investment for post-war reconstruction.
The discussion follows Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš’s announcement that Prague will increase support for Czech companies doing business with or in Ukraine as part of the country’s long-term commitment to Ukraine’s recovery.
