Ukraine is preparing to sign a Drone Deal with Germany and is working with its partners to develop a joint European anti-ballistic defense system, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said following talks with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, UATV English reports.
“We are also preparing a Drone Deal with Germany and working on creating a common European anti-ballistic system. I am grateful to Germany and Chancellor Friedrich Merz personally for their support and for the steps toward European anti-ballistic defense. This is the only way to guarantee reliable protection of lives in Europe from missile threats,” Zelenskyy said.
The president praised Germany’s leadership in strengthening Ukraine’s air defense, highlighting both bilateral military support and Berlin’s significant contributions to the PURL initiative.
“Thanks to this support, we are able to procure critically needed anti-ballistic interceptor missiles. This is especially important now, as Russia is counting on brutal ballistic strikes to prolong the war,” Zelenskyy said.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the NATO summit in Ankara, where Ukraine’s air defense and defense-industrial cooperation remain among the key topics of discussion.
