Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he would be prepared to freeze the front line with Russia at its current positions as part of a ceasefire agreement, UATV English informs.

In an interview with Sky News, Zelenskyy was asked whether he would accept a ceasefire that freezes the battlefield where it currently stands.

“If a ceasefire were agreed tomorrow, where would you want the front lines to be frozen? Where they are at this moment? Would you agree to that?” the interviewer asked.

“Yes. That is the fastest path,” Zelenskyy replied.

At the same time, the Ukrainian president stressed that Ukraine’s goal is not simply to freeze the conflict.

“We want to stop the war in a way that it does not return. The idea is not simply to freeze it, but the fastest way is to freeze the fighting and move everything into a diplomatic track,” he said.

When asked whether that would mean giving Russia what it currently wants, Zelenskyy rejected the suggestion.

“No, it is not simply giving it away. Remaining where we are now means giving the people of Ukraine more opportunities to save their children and giving soldiers a chance to return home. I believe that is important for us,” the president said.
