The German government intends to increase defense assistance to Ukraine in 2026 by an additional €3 billion, bringing the total to over €11.5 billion, UATV English reports, according to Welt.
The increase is outlined in a submission from the Ministry of Finance to the Bundestag’s Budget Committee. The funds fall under the budget line for “Strengthening states attacked in violation of international law in the areas of security, defense, and stabilization.”
Last week, government sources said the additional financing is expected to be allocated for artillery, drones, armored vehicles, and for replacing the two Patriot air-defense systems Germany previously transferred to Ukraine.
The Bundestag Budget Committee will meet on Thursday, 13 November, to finalize the draft federal budget for 2026.
Earlier, German Prime Minister Mark Rutte noted that Germany is the largest European donor of military assistance to Ukraine.
