The UK government recently decided to transfer additional Storm Shadow cruise missiles to Ukraine so that Ukrainian forces can continue striking targets on Russian territory.
Bloomberg learned about this from informed sources.
The interlocutors said the delivery of Storm Shadow missiles was carried out to ensure Ukraine is stocked ahead of the winter months, during which the UK fears the Kremlin may step up attacks on Ukrainian civilians.
The sources did not specify how many missiles the UK supplied to Ukraine.
Storm Shadow is a high-precision air-launched missile with a range of over 250 kilometers.
The UK government has not disclosed how many Storm Shadow missiles it has provided to Ukraine since the start of the war and does not announce such deliveries on a regular basis.
Recently, The Wall Street Journal reported that the U.S. administration lifted a key restriction on Ukraine’s use of certain long-range missiles provided by Western allies, which allowed Kyiv to expand strikes on targets inside Russia.
There had also been expectations of President Donald Trump’s approval to supply Ukraine with Tomahawk long-range missiles, but he himself said he is currently not considering such an option.
