Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte have discussed the expansion of the Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List (PURL) program to purchase weapons that will protect Ukrainians from Russian terror.
Zelenskyy said this in a post on the Telegram messaging app, according to Ukrinform.
“I spoke with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte and thanked him for all the support. I shared details of today’s vile Russian strike – attack drones, missiles, including ballistic ones,” he said.
Zelenskyy added that they also discussed the PURL initiative.
“It is already moving forward well. We talked about how to expand it further, how to strengthen its content, and the involvement of other countries,” Zelenskyy said.
He noted that this initiative helps Ukraine purchase precisely the weapons that protect people’s lives.
On the night of September 27-28, Russia launched nearly 500 attack drones and more than 40 missiles, including Kinzhal hypersonic missiles, against Ukrainian cities. Four people were killed in Kyiv, and at least 40 were injured nationwide.
The war in Ukraine will likely end in negotiations, NATO Secretary General Rutte said.
He stressed that President Zelenskyy must be assured that Ukraine will be protected after any peace agreement or ceasefire.
China diversified its economy, but Russia did not, Rutte added.
The NATO Secretary General noted that Russia’s oil-dependent economy is facing problems: Ukrainian drone strikes on key refineries are affecting the industry. Long queues have formed at gas stations.
