The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has adopted an official appeal to the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate, calling for the preservation and strengthening of American leadership in supporting Ukraine’s fight against Russian aggression — a battle for peace, security, and the freedom of the entire democratic world.
This was reported by a Ukrinform correspondent, citing a live broadcast by MP from the “Holos” parliamentary faction.
The legislative initiative was backed by 328 votes in favor.
In the resolution, the Rada expressed gratitude to both chambers of the U.S. Congress and called on American partners to continue strengthening bipartisan and bicameral support for Ukraine in its fight for sovereignty, independence, and the restoration of its territorial integrity within internationally recognized borders, including territorial waters.
Ukrainian lawmakers also urged their U.S. colleagues to legislate a formal policy of non-recognition of any Ukrainian territories temporarily occupied by Russia in violation of international law.
The appeal proposes the adoption of a bipartisan U.S. Congressional Resolution and related legislative acts reaffirming America’s readiness to provide comprehensive assistance — especially military — to significantly strengthen Ukraine’s defense capacity, compel Russia to abandon its war of aggression, and help liberate temporarily occupied territories.
The resolution also contains a call to ensure uninterrupted defense support, including intelligence sharing and the prompt delivery of Patriot missile defense systems in sufficient quantity, F-16 fighter jets, long-range precision weapons such as Tomahawk missiles, artillery shells, and other critical military equipment needed to deter the aggressor.
“We call on our American partners to maintain the flow of weapons and intelligence and to provide Ukraine with the tools necessary to protect itself and bring peace to Europe.”
Additionally, the Verkhovna Rada urged the United States to continue expanding comprehensive sanctions against the Russian Federation and any countries that cooperate with or support its military aggression against Ukraine.
