The United States and Germany have reached an agreement to provide Ukraine with five Patriot air defense systems, which are to be delivered to the battlefield as quickly as possible.

This was announced by German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius at the opening of the 29th meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group (UDCG) in the Ramstein format, held on Monday, July 21, under the joint leadership of the UK and Germany.

“During my visit to Washington last week, I reached an agreement with Pete Hegseth that Germany would contribute to the rapid delivery of five urgently needed Patriot systems to Ukraine,”
— Pistorius said.

He noted that over the next few days, Germany would coordinate the implementation of this plan “in a spirit of mutual trust” with its partners.

“Germany will provide additional air defense systems and critically needed ammunition,”
— added the German Defense Minister.

As reported by earlier, the July 21 Ramstein meeting, which kicks off a 50-day campaign to arm Ukraine, included participation from 52 countries.

Earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump threatened to impose “very harsh” sanctions on Russia if it does not agree to a ceasefire by September 2 — exactly 50 days after his announcement of plans to sell “the most advanced” NATO weapons that could be transferred to Ukraine.

In July, U.S. officials joined the so-called “Coalition of the Willing” for the first time.
