President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron, during which the two leaders discussed missile deliveries for SAMP/T systems, funding for interceptor drones, and training pilots for Mirage fighter jets.

Zelenskyy shared details of the conversation via Telegram, noting:

“We discussed the situation on the front lines and Ukraine’s most urgent defense needs. I’m grateful to Emmanuel for his truly strategic perspective and readiness to provide exactly what our soldiers require.”

He emphasized that special attention was given to strengthening Ukraine’s air defense:

“We talked in detail about the delivery of missiles for the SAMP/T systems and funding for interceptor drones. Together with France and other partners, we are preparing joint decisions at the level of defense and foreign ministers to take new steps in protecting our people from Russian attacks.”

Zelenskyy also highlighted an agreement with France on the training of additional Mirage jet pilots, with Paris prepared to accept more Ukrainian trainees and allocate additional aircraft for instruction.

The two presidents also discussed coordination within the Coalition of the Willing and the implementation of agreements reached at their recent meeting.

“I also thanked France for its strong contribution to shaping and promoting the EU’s 18th package of sanctions. We are working with our American partners to ensure Russia feels truly global pressure. Each day this war continues must result in painful consequences for Russia,” Zelenskyy said.

President Macron confirmed the conversation in a post on social media platform X and welcomed the EU’s adoption of the latest sanctions package:

“Together, we are increasing pressure on Russia to secure an unconditional ceasefire and the launch of negotiations for a just and lasting peace. I welcome the EU’s adoption of an unprecedented new sanctions package against Russia this morning.”

Macron added that Europe’s security, freedom, and future are closely tied to Ukraine’s fate, stating:

“That is why, together with our partners, we continue to support the Ukrainian people.”

As reported, back in January President Zelenskyy had discussed the delivery of missiles for the SAMP/T air defense systems with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. The system is a joint Franco-Italian development.
