Germany is working on an independent production line for Patriot air defense missiles, with the first units expected to be ready by 2026 or early 2027.
This was announced by Major General Christian Freuding, Chief of Planning at the German Ministry of Defense and the lead coordinator of German military aid to Ukraine, during a briefing in Kyiv, Ukrinform reports.
Freuding emphasized that Germany will remain firmly on Ukraine’s side and will continue to support it in the years ahead, regardless of the cost. He recalled that Germany has allocated €9 billion in military aid to Ukraine, which includes equipment, technological innovations, and training support.
“We fully understand the hardships faced by the Ukrainian people and the Armed Forces. That’s why you can rely on Germany and our support. We will continue this fight to the very end—until success is achieved and a long-lasting, sustainable, and just peace is secured,” Freuding stated.
He added that Germany is actively working on launching its own missile production line for the Patriot system, with the first output expected in 2026 or early 2027.
As previously reported, General Freuding also confirmed that Germany will not supply Ukraine with Taurus missiles, but will instead help finance the domestic production of hundreds of long-range missiles.
On July 10, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz discussed boosting investments in Ukraine’s drone manufacturing sector.
