During a meeting with U.S. Senators Lindsey Graham and Richard Blumenthal, Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha emphasized the importance of lowering the oil price ceiling to deprive Russia of oil revenues.
The head of Ukrainian diplomacy announced this on the social network X following a meeting in Rome, Ukrinform reports.
“An important conversation with U.S. Senators Lindsey Graham and Richard Blumenthal in Rome. Their participation in the Ukraine Recovery Conference and the meeting of the Coalition of the Willing sent an important signal of transatlantic unity and support for Ukraine’s resilience, recovery and defense,” Sybiha wrote.
He added that the Ukrainian side highly appreciates the efforts of the US Senate aimed at achieving a just and lasting peace.
“Russia and those who support its military actions must face real pressure. In this regard, I also emphasized the importance of lowering the oil price ceiling to deprive Russia of the oil revenues it is turning into war crimes. We are at a decisive stage when strong leadership and decisions can make a difference in achieving peace through strength,” the Foreign Minister said.
As reported earlier, Republican Senator Lindsey Graham said that the US Senate would soon adopt a package of severe sanctions against Russia, as well as China and India as the largest buyers of energy from Russia.
