As reported, Nausėda expressed his disapproval in a post on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter).
He suggested that Fico’s pursuit of cheap Russian gas transit comes at the cost of meeting with a war criminal.
“How cheaply is your loyalty bought? Some people travel to Russia with love and would strangle anyone just to meet with a war criminal.
This is not Lithuania’s path. We choose energy independence and fair market prices — without any political strings attached!” Nausėda wrote.
On Sunday, Robert Fico traveled to Moscow to meet Russian leader Vladimir Putin.
Fico stated that he had informed EU leaders about his visit.
“Today’s meeting was a response to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s statement on Thursday, where he said he opposes any gas transit through Ukraine to our territory,” Fico explained.
