Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a bilateral meeting in Zakarpattia with European Council President António Costa, thanking him for his visit and support for Ukraine.
“I would like to thank Mr. President for being here today to support Ukraine. Despite your busy schedule, you found the time to come, and I am especially grateful for your visit to this region,” Zelenskyy said.
Costa is expected to address the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities later today. Zelenskyy emphasized the importance of European leaders taking part in regional-level initiatives.
He described the talks as “very productive”, continuing discussions from yesterday’s Coalition of the Willing summit in Paris.
“We were in Paris yesterday for the Coalition of the Willing meeting, and together we spoke with the US President and other European leaders. There is now a real chance to push the situation toward greater security and stronger joint results for Ukraine and Europe,” Zelenskyy noted.
The President thanked the EU and European institutions for actively contributing to the development of Ukraine’s security guarantees:
“We are creating a security system that will work already during the war, remain in place, and fully unfold after the war. Many details have been worked out. Of the 35 countries in our Coalition of the Willing, 26 are ready to participate in guaranteeing security. These are concrete measures — on land, in the air, at sea, in cyberspace, as well as financial support for our forces.”
