During a working trip to the Cherkasy region, Volodymyr Zelenskyy and his wife Olena visited the new modern cultural center “Shevchenko HUB” in Kaniv.

The House of Culture for 700 places was a long-term construction. It was included into the national program “Big Construction” and was completed in 2021 in preparation for the celebration of the 30th anniversary of Ukraine’s independence. This is a significant modern cultural space for the Cherkasy region.
As the head of the Cherkasy Regional State Administration Oleksander Skichko told the President of Ukraine, when they were finishing the construction of this cultural center, they planned to not only equip a concert hall that would be used several times a year, but to create an active public space. Therefore, on one of the floors, a modern exhibition hall and an art school for 19 classrooms appeared. Children will be able to attend them all the time.
The Shevchenko HUB also has a screen and the necessary equipment for showing films. President and his wife watched a fragment of the multimedia play “The Liberation of Shevchenko”, directed by Yevhen Stepanenko, created with the support of the Taras Shevchenko National Museum. As the authors of the play note, its goal is to present Shevchenko’s story in a new way and free from stereotypes about him.
The presidential couple also visited an exhibition of embroidered towels of the Near-Dnipro Ukraine of the XX – early XXI century. It presents a collection of ritual and decorative towels from the fund of the Museum of Ukrainian towels.
All premises of the cultural center are equipped according to the principle of inclusiveness and are accessible for people with disabilities.
The president and his wife also examined the new square and sports ground near the Shevchenko HUB.
