The United States of America has agreed to accept Volodymyr Yelchenko as the new ambassador of Ukraine to the United States, Foreign Minister of Ukraine Vadym Prystaiko has said.
“We have already received agrément [a diplomatic term]. We decided on a candidacy two months ago, this is our current Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Volodymyr Yelchenko,” Prystaiko said in an interview with UNIAN, reports Ukrinform.
The Trump administration was slow to accept Yelchenko as they had suggested a low level diplomat that had expressed positive views towards Trump. Ukraine had appointed the more experienced Yelchenko instead.
