Russians destroy largest power plant in Kyiv region

On April 11, Russians attacked the Trypillia thermal power plant which left PJSC Centrenergo unable to generate electricity.

That’s according to an official statement by Centrenergo.

Trypilska Thermal Power Plant is the biggest power plant in the Kyiv region and generated electricity for the Kyiv, Cherkasy, and Zhytomyr regions.

“The scale of damage is horrendous. It can’t be estimated in money. For us, this is the biggest challenge in the entire history of the enterprise. But I’m convinced, we will manage,” stated Andrii Hota, chairman of the supervisory board of Centrenergo.

He added that no casualties had been reported, but a fire broke out in the turbine shop as a result of the attacks and it is currently being localized.

In addition to Trypilska TPP, the aggressor damaged Ukrenergo’s substations and power plants in five regions.

Centrenergo, a state enterprise, also lost Zmiivska TPP in the Kharkiv region due to an attack on March 22, and their third power plant, Vuglegirska TPP is under occupation, which means its facilities are now 100% non-operating.

Previously, Ukrainian officials urged the world to provide air defense systems to Ukraine.

“If Russian missiles and ‘Shahed’ drones continue to strike not only Ukraine but also the resolve of our allies, this will amount to a global license for terror,” Zelenskyy said on social media.
