President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy today, June 25, held a meeting with the President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, on the sidelines of the NATO summit in The Hague. The Ukrainian leader called the meeting with the White House head substantive. After the meeting, Trump held a final press conference at the NATO summit.
Main statements from the President of the U.S:
“I think the war between Iran and Israel will end. I don’t believe they will resume retaliatory attacks,” Trump said during his final press conference at the NATO summit.
The president again compared the U.S. strikes on Iran to the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
“The strikes on Hiroshima stopped the war. The strikes on Iran have also, to some extent, stopped the war,” he said at the briefing.
“I believe Putin is a man who has been misled; he’s confused. Putin wanted to end the war with Ukraine. Perhaps he has territorial ambitions beyond Ukraine,” said the U.S. President.
“We had difficult times with Zelenskyy, but he was very kind, and I was very glad to see him. It was a great meeting. If I can, I will talk to Putin to see whether we can stop the war,” Trump added.
Trump also said that he did not discuss a ceasefire with Zelenskyy.
“We had difficult times with Zelenskyy, but he was very kind — kinder than ever — and I was very glad to see him. It was a great meeting. If I can, I will talk to Putin to see whether we can end the war,” said Trump.
“My words about ending the war in Ukraine within 24 hours — of course, were sarcastic. Putin is a more complicated person, and I’ve also had difficulties with Zelensky. This is the toughest war,” — Trump
Trump revealed that Putin called him this week. According to the American leader, Putin allegedly “would like to get out” of the war with Ukraine.
The White House chief also suggested that Putin may be “confused.”
Kyiv wants to receive Patriot missiles. I want us to be able to provide them to you, — Trump
“Kyiv wants to receive Patriot missiles. We’ll see, we need them too. I see that you’re upset, and I want us to be able to provide them to you,” the U.S. president replied when asked about Patriot systems.
