U.S. President Donald Trump took to social media to hail the NATO summit in The Hague as “the most productive in history,” despite many observers describing the event as having been shaped largely to appease Trump.

Trump shared his reaction on the platform Truth Social.

The president spoke very warmly about the NATO summit held on June 24–25, amid prior concerns that the meeting could be disrupted due to his unpredictability.

“Yesterday’s NATO summit was magnificent — the most united and the most productive in history. A great day with incredible and caring leaders. The 5% agreement gives NATO real strength!” Trump wrote.

As reported in an earlier article, appeasing Trump was a central goal for the summit’s hosts — something they did not try to hide.

Trump was given an overnight stay at the royal palace, with the royal family showing him special attention and care. The summit program was adjusted to accommodate all of the U.S. president’s preferences, and many leaders — including NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte — openly flattered Trump.
