During the night of October 5, Russia carried out a large-scale combined strike against Ukraine. The Volyn, Dnipropetrovsk, Ivano-Frankivsk, Zaporizhzhia, Lviv, and Rivne regions came under missile and drone attack. Air defense systems were also active in Kyiv and the surrounding area.
Monitoring channels reported overnight launches of Kalibr cruise missiles from the Black Sea, missiles from Tu-95 strategic bombers, and Kinzhal aeroballistic missiles from MiG-31K aircraft. Preliminary information suggests that the main target of the attack was Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.
Russian forces dropped aerial bombs on the Pokrovske community of the Synelnykove district in the Dnipropetrovsk region, destroying three private houses. The Nikopol district was attacked with heavy artillery and Grad multiple rocket launchers. Strikes were recorded in the district center and the Marhanets community.
Local authorities continue inspecting the affected areas to assess the damage, said regional military administration head Serhii Lysak.
Eight apartment buildings, eight private houses, and several non-residential structures were damaged as a result of the Russian attack on Zaporizhzhia. According to the regional military administration, three districts of the city were hit. As a result of at least 10 strikes, the city experienced power and water outages. Residential buildings were hit. One person was killed and at least 10 were injured.
One apartment building sustained severe destruction, while others had windows shattered and facades damaged.
Due to the attack, more than 73,000 customers were left without electricity — 67,000 in the regional capital and over 6,000 in the Zaporizhzhia district.
After the strike on Lviv, several fires broke out, one of them at the Sparrow industrial park. Part of the city was left without electricity. Rescue workers are already on site, reported Mayor Andriy Sadovyi.
Residents were urged not to go outside even after the air raid alert ended until the situation is fully under control.
The State Emergency Service reported that 4 people were killed and another four people were injured as a result of the combined drone and missile strike on the Lviv region, according to the regional administration.
As reported earlier, on October 4, the Russian occupation army carried out a double drone strike on the railway station and two passenger trains in the city of Shostka, Sumy region.
During the night of October 5, Russia launched more than 50 missiles and around 500 attack drones against Ukraine. The regions of Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Zaporizhzhia, Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kherson, Odesa, and Kirovohrad came under attack.
Zelenskyy emphasized that the Russians targeted infrastructure vital to people’s lives and called on partners to provide greater protection.
