A gymnastics tournament took place in Zurich – the Swiss Cup. Ukraine was represented there by Illia Kovtun and Yelyzaveta Hubareva.

The format of this tournament is different from the classic team competitions. There are only two members in the team, and they are eliminated after each performance on the projectile.
The decisive duel for the “gold” was on the bars between the teams of Ukraine and Russia. Illia Kovtun performed better than in the first stage, completing the exercise by 14.9 points. His opponent – the 2020 Olympic champion in the team, Russian Nikita Nagornyy – came off the projectile and received a lower score – 13.85.
His partner Angelina Melnikova, also the Tokyo Olympic champion in the team, coped with the bars by 14.55 points. Ukrainian Yelyzaveta Hubareva failed to pass this kind unmistakably and repeat the previous result. After two falls, she received only 11.25 points.
In general, Ukraine scored 26.15 points in the final, losing to Russia 2.25.
Earlier, Kovtun won “bronze” at competitions in Switzerland.
